A hotel is defined as “a place that provides paid accommodation in a short period of time”. (See 1.)
In the early days of hotels, accommodation was very basic, usually a room with a bed, cupboard, small table and washstand. Today, most rooms are equipped with modern facilities. In addition to the bathroom, it also provides air conditioning, telephone, TV, Wi-Fi (Internet connection) and a minibar with snacks and drinks.
Over the years, hotel accommodation has undergone tremendous changes. There are several types of hotels that can meet the tastes and needs of almost everyone, the most important of which is economical. The two main types of hotels are luxury hotels and budget hotels. Although the basic facilities of the two are the same, there are significant differences between the two types of hotels:
As the name suggests, these hotels are set up for people with limited budgets, so they want to spend the least money. The rooms in these hotels usually have basic facilities such as beds and washing facilities, and most of them have public toilets. Most budget hotels are relatively old. They are very clean, but not as luxurious as luxury hotels. Some of these budget hotels are equipped with outdated fixtures, and they offer nothing for free except for free breakfast or newspapers (sometimes included in their charges).
Prices for budget hotels vary by location. In Los Angeles alone, budget hotels charge from US$45 to US$119 per day.
Luxury hotels are suitable for those who are used to a luxurious lifestyle. The staff of these hotels have been specially trained to meet all the needs of the guests. They aim to provide guests with all the luxuries they want during their stay. These hotels are built in such a way that their guests’ accommodation is absolutely stress-free. In addition to the basic facilities of deluxe rooms, these hotels are usually equipped with spas that provide massage services, gyms equipped with the latest sports equipment, beauty centers that provide a variety of beauty services, swimming pools, indoor bars and restaurants, and laundry services.
Compared with budget hotels, the prices of these services are of course much higher. Other services you can enjoy in luxury hotels include free room service, free newspapers, and even better channel selection on your TV. You can even wear dressing gowns and slippers while staying at these hotels.
As with budget hotels, the prices of luxury hotels vary by location. Luxury hotels in London charge between 240 and 525 pounds a day.
The phrase “you get what you paid” makes sense. Therefore, for those who have the money to spend money on expensive hotel accommodations, if they want to get the best service that money can buy, then staying in luxury hotels will be the best. But for those who have a limited budget but need to stay away from home, it is best to choose cheap hotels.
For travelers who want to book in advance, they can check the websites of different hotels around the world in the hotel of their choice.
